Progress on Camden’s park in the sky

Progress continues on Camden’s new park in the sky.

Charity Camden Highline has spent the last few years designing their proposal for a 15-minute green walking route occupying 1.1km of disused railway viaduct.

For the next stage of this project, Camden Highline has launched a competition to look for the project’s lead design.

The winner of the competition will work closely with local community groups and stakeholders and will be tasked with vivifying the vacant infrastructure.

It is hoped that once complete, the highline will act as a beacon for positive and sustainable development for Camden by inspiring a new approach to inclusive urban design.

As a grassroots project, the Camden Highline has gathered momentum among locals who are a vital part of making this project a reality.

The highway will offer a new link to local communities in Camden Market, Camden Road and Kings Cross as well as improving biodiversity and citizen wellbeing.

It is estimated that once complete, the project will bring new close-by green space to 20,000 people, provide £5m worth of health and social advantages and attract 1.3 million new visitors annually.
