This is an exciting time to be joining Hyndburn Borough Council’s Planning Policy Team. The team deals with a broad range of Strategic Planning duties and are now at an advanced stage in preparing the new Local Plan 2040. We have an opportunity for the right candidate to join us at either Planning Officer or Senior Officer level to help us get the Plan over the line.

We are looking for a competent and enthusiastic individual who is able to communicate well, with the ability to cope with a demanding workload, including adapting to changes in national policy.

Applications are invited from candidates with a degree in Planning or a related subject with or without relevant experience.

The role requires excellent communication and organisational skills, a flexible and adaptable approach to work and a solution focused outlook. You will be working in a small, friendly and supportive environment and will be expected to work well with wider Council colleagues. A good level of effective IT skills and the ability to understand and develop the use of ICT to achieve work objectives is also required.  We would particularly welcome candidates who are proficient in GIS.

If you feel your skills and knowledge match the requirements, we would be eager to hear from you.

For an informal discussion on this role please contact Christine Whittle, Planning Policy Manager on 01254 380 174 or Simon Prideaux, Chief Planning and Transportation on 01254 380 152
