Wakefield Council has a reputation for developing and delivering impactful healthy housing initiatives, working closely with Public Health and other health partners. These projects align to priorities within the District Plan, Corporate Plan, Housing Plan, and Affordable Warmth Charter.

Do you want to play a key role in driving forward this work - supporting people to be warmer and healthier in their homes?

If so, here is an excellent opportunity for someone to coordinate the delivery of our Healthy Housing Pathway project and support the delivery of our housing improvement and fuel poverty projects.

You will have extensive partnership development and project delivery experience within a public sector, health, social care, or third sector setting and have a detailed working knowledge of these stakeholders and networks. You will be an excellent communicator and be flexible, agile, and able to work within a small team and from your own initiative, prioritising and managing your own workload.

This role will work closely with a range of Council services, partners and stakeholders, as well as engaging with residents daily and often in their homes. This role’s key responsibilities will be:

  • Engaging with referral partners.
  • Developing and coordinating referral pathways.
  • Delivering specialist training and advice services.
  • Maintaining monitoring and evaluation frameworks.
  • Promoting and administering healthy housing and fuel poverty support schemes.

Based in the Strategic Housing Service, this post reports to the Housing and Neighbourhood Improvement Manager and is located at Wakefield One offices in the centre of Wakefield.

Benefits include:

  • A competitive and generous Grade 9 (sp 28-31) salary.
  • Flexible working hours and flexi leave.
  • Generous holiday entitlement with the option to buy up to 10 extra days of annual leave.
  • Hybrid working - home and office based.
  • Access to high-quality training programs to advance your career.
  • Discounted and subsidised public transport (Arriva Bus Annual Travel Ticket, Northern Trains Limited (NTL), MetroCard).
  • Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) and a Shared Cost Additional Voluntary Contributions (AVC) scheme.
  • Employee Assistant Programme including discounted leisure facility membership with free 12 weeks exercise program, a cycle to work scheme, and retail, health and leisure provider discounts.

This is a temporary full time fixed term role until 31 March 2029. There is potential for the role to be extended, and this will be confirmed towards the end of the appointment.

A secondment appointment is welcome, and candidates should discuss this with their line manager for approval before applying.
